Mojatu recently delivered a culturally tailored Mental Health First Aid training to 40 women in Nottingham, supported by AHPN. The training was designed to make conversations about mental health more relatable by connecting everyday experiences, cultural values, and community realities.

Over the course of the session, participants learnt how mental health affects daily life, explored common conditions such as stress, anxiety, and depression, and discussed the role of language in reducing stigma. They also practised simple strategies for managing stress and recognised signs when someone may need support. Importantly, the training emphasised compassion, resilience, and the value of creating safe, stigma-free spaces where women can openly talk about mental health challenges.

Feedback from participants was very encouraging. Many said the session helped them see mental health in a new light, gave them confidence to support others, and motivated them to prioritise their own wellbeing. Several also shared that they now feel better equipped to help family and community members navigate challenges and seek care when needed.
